I come from something of a jack-of-all-trades background. My father and uncles worked on remodeling and adding on to many homes when I was young. Dad had a woodshop where he made crafts, repaired furniture, or whatever was needed around the house. I always enjoyed woodwork and carpentry. In high school, I completed a course in Construction Technology through SEK Vocational School. After high school, I worked for a builder, building custom homes. We built houses and performed remodels for nearly a decade. We completed everything from footings to custom cabinets and millwork. The finish work has always been my favorite part of every project, for I have an eye for detail.

From there, I moved on to commercial construction, where my previous experience earned high ranks as a finish carpenter. After that, I spent the next three years as an outside salesman for a local lumber yard, where I performed material take-offs for contractors to assist them with their building projects. I eventually started investing in real estate, which I maintain myself.

While visiting with a real estate agent one day, I asked; What’s a job I could do that would get me closer to real estate? She replied, “We need inspectors.” That was enough to get me interested in learning about the industry.

My years of construction experience are invaluable to me as a home inspector. While other home inspectors are only able to see an issue, I understand them because I have likely fixed that very issue with my own two hands. We know the homes in the area, what they go through, and what you can expect from them. This comes from being in the trades and taught from a young age by my father. I gained not only work experience that is hard to match, but a knowledge and work ethic for my clients that can’t be mimicked.
